I have been a professional painter, and stylist since 1982. I also dabble in photography.
My practice includes capturing the beauty of birds, on repurposed found silver plated trays and plates, and sometimes on canvas. Using found discarded objects in this series is my small contribution to saving the planet.
In another series I paint portraits of people that are inspiring to me. The human figure is also used metaphorically in my work to explore beauty and the human condition.
Occasionally I liberate myself completely from representational imagery and focus solely on exploring color and the fluid properties of paint to create abstract emotive work.
I started my artistic journey in 1967, when my 5th grade English teacher asked us to make some pop art objects. I went home and made a giant light switch and an Alka Seltzer tablet out of cardboard and old house paint.
My artwork has been exhibited in galleries and design stores across the United States. I have also maintained a parallel creative career as a prop stylist in addition to my fine art practice. This combination of creative pursuits has shaped my distinctive aesthetic. My multidisciplinary experience, along with a sophisticated sense of beauty and excellence, gives me the ability to embrace a range of genres, styles, and influences. My biggest inspiration is our relationship to nature. This includes our physical and psychological selves in a time when our planet is shouting at us to listen. Nature is fierce and our connection to it is essential to our existence.
